Should Someone Tell Their Doctor If They Are Using Medicinal Cannabis?

The federal government has declared marijuana/cannabis illigal, even for medicinal uses. What about cancer patients who use it to fight nausea and pain? Glaucoma patients? MS patients? Now that these people cannot receive their relief legally, should they let their doctor know they are breaking the law? Or should they keep this information to themselves?

Your doctor should know and HIPPA laws prevent his from disclosing this informaiton you are 100% safe being 100% honest with your doctor.

It is not a question of letting your doctor know you’re breaking the law. After all doctor is not one prescribing it. He or she must know, though, that his or her patient, is taking something which, undoubtedly is a potent drug, which could be harmful if taken with some prescribed medicines.

This is a “duh” question! OF COURSE you should tell your Doctor!!!! They are subject to Doctor Patient confidentiality rules and cannot turn you in for the knowledge. Now if you smoke in their Office, don’t expect to go home.

yes their doctor should know, just in case there is any complications. if they don’t know about it, it could take longer to find the cause of the problem, if that’s what it was. and, just in case there are any medications that could receive interference from it. the doctor won’t turn the patient in, doctor patient confidentiality covers that.
